They really should have complained aha, they had no chance. I guessed that dungeon was gunna be difficult, thats why I completed a few dungeons first, but I shouldn't have gone in, my party didnt complain though - like when you click on darkest dungeon and they complain saying 'please no, we wont last a minute'. The COM DLC opened up really early, was like 'investigate the mill' or whatever, so I did, and enemies just kept spawning until my party died :L I opted with DD, haven't played enough to decide whether it was worth it. Darkest Dungeon bears almost no similarity to those games. They are mostly open-world RPGs where you are controlling a single character. The issue for you pops up when I look at your examples of games that you want it to be similar to. Also keep in mind that DD takes a lot of time to complete. Darkest Dungeon has a great atmosphere, and if you are looking for that, you will certainly find it. I just don't know what you want from the game. If we are talking climate and stuff, DD is much better. Both are considered difficult, so if you're looking for a challenge, I find Slay the Spire way more difficult (in Ascension mode). Slay the Spire is a card game with focus on deckbuilding, while Darkest Dungeon is mainly focused on turn-based combat tactics.
